Jason was one of the few people I’ve met that actually cared. It seems like, in today’s world, it’s hard to come by true friends. Jason, though, he was a true friend; he was the type of person that would give you the shirt off of his back. He was the man that would always be there, whether you needed someone to help you work on your car or change a spare tire, or whether you needed to borrow a couple dollars until pay day. It didn’t matter what it was, Jason would always help you out if he could.
I’ll never forget one time, a friend of mine had a daughter that was out of state. She had spent the summer with her grandmother, but then her mother did not have the means to get her back home. Without a second thought, Jason volunteered to drive six states away to bring a girl home that he had never met before. He didn’t know her family, or her, for that matter. It didn’t matter to him though, he simply wanted to help.
Jason received many blessings in his life from our Lord. He fell into a successful career, making a wealth of money. He remained humble though. No matter how successful Jason was, he always helped others. Jason told me of the many times that strangers helped him, and insisted that it was simply the way that the world should be.
I used to think it was a foolish, naïve thought that the world was such a wonderful place. Looking through Jason’s view though, I think the world was wonderful. He gave nothing but good and kindness, and in return he received goodness and kindness. I think that is how we will all remember him.
