When looking for an obituary, you need to examine the files of all possible newspapers. This means you have to look through the Los Angeles city newspapers page by page next to the date of death (usually on microfilm) or search for keywords in scanned newspaper format.

 The fastest way to find an obituary for a specific person is to search for one or more paid online obituaries or genealogical research services. It will likely be the rare occasion that you type in your ancestors’ name and the first result of the search is your ancestors’ obituary. If your search returns too many results even for sorting with filters, you can try using additional search terms such as “obituary”, “death”, “dead”, “dead”, “funeral”, “memory”, “in memory”, etc.
